Introduction to UV Application Technology 2018-04-13 16:06:52

UV, the abbreviation of Ultraviolet Rays, invisible to the naked eye, is an electromagnetic outside of the violet light. The range of wavelength is 10~400nm. Generally speaking, according to its nature, a few paragraphs as follow :

1)Vacuum UV, wavelength : 10~200nm

2)UV-C, wavelength : 200~290nm

3)UV-B, wavelength : 290~320nm

4)UV-A, wavelength : 320~400nm

5)Visible Light, wavelength : 400~760nm

Ultraviolet Rays (UV) is used in industrial manufacture. Internationally, UV-A is commonly used.

The abbreviation of nanometer is nm, which is a unit of measurement. A nanometer is a million of a millimeter, a billion of a meter, roughly the length of 45 atoms strung together.

Solidification principle of which is in a specially formulated resin curing light initiator is added to (or photosensitizer), through the absorption of ultraviolet (UV) light, high intensity of UV light curing equipment producing active free radicals or ion, causing polymerization, cross-linking and grafting reaction, the resin (UV coating, printing ink, adhesive, etc.) in seconds (range) from liquid into solid. This process is called “UV curing”.

UV Curing Method

1.UV light (in common use)

2.Electrodeless lamp (domestic application is less, the price is very expensive)

3.Sunlight (the light source used for UV equipment in industry, mainly gas discharge lamps (mercury lamp))

According to the pressure of the inner chamber gas, the pressure is divided into low pressure, medium pressure, high pressure and ultra-high pressure industry. In the thermal state, the pressure in the cavity is 0.1-0.5/MPa.

UV Application Technology

UV radiation physical properties is similar to visible light, both have linearity. Its penetration is fas lass than visible light, the shorter the wavelength, the worse penetrating power. Therefore, the UV curing mainly used light to shoot directly to the skin surface or preferable inner light curing.

UV light produces UV and produces a lot of IR radiant heat. For work-pieces that have little effect on temperature, the radiant heat is beneficial. It can accelerate the reaction speed of light curing, especially for the UV anaerobic mixed type adhesive, which effect is more obvious. Application example: UV coating for wooden floor, metal products, etc., UV insulating coating on printed circuit board, UV glue for glass products.

For the light curing work-piece with less sensitive or less temperature-tolerant light, the IR radiant heat that is attached to the UV light produced by the traditional UV lamp is a major hazard and even fatal. Reduce IR radiation is now the word manufacturing UV curing equipment, one of the frontier issues are usually the methods of water filtration, reflection, the frequency to be solved, but at the cost of loss must be part of the ultraviolet light work. Application example: various kinds of PVC (such as IC card), plastic sheet, offset (dot) UV oil printing, paper special printing (ice flower), computer keyboard printing.
